 The
four seasons offered in the Shuswap, are only a part of the
reason we live, work and play here.
During the spring we are blessed with a wonderful
assortment of blossoms. Most flowers and bushes grow extremely well
in our moderate climate. Spring brings out the hikers, joggers,
bikers or the scenery lovers, walking along the pier, around the
golf course, or at the beach.
When summer arrives, it's hot and sunny. The
1,000 kilometers of shoreline on Shuswap Lake offer a wide variety
of summer activities. Boating, water skiing, house boating, fishing,
swimming and more. There are several first class golf courses in the
Shuswap and more in the surrounding communities. The vegetable
gardens are abundant, and you can grow almost anything.
Fall features a multitude of zestful colors.
The golf courses are open into October, and some people are still
boating! The temperate autumn weather is perfect for hiking, golfing
and exploring the Shuswap.
When winter arrives we can normally look
forward to a "White Christmas". This is when the snowmobiles
come
out and play, particularly in the North Shuswap. Cross-country
skiing, is a big family pleaser. The major ski hills are within an
hour and a half from the Shuswap. Salmon Arm has a new twin ice
arena and hosts a junior hockey team. For those who enjoy indoor
sports, there is an indoor swimming pool, bowling alleys, ice
arenas, a multiplex theater, live theater, curling club and lots
more tourist attractions.
